TASIWA continues to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) among pregnant women attending antenatal care at Nyamagana District Hospital in Mwanza. The mothers received education on sickle cell disease, including how to care for a child living with the condition. They were also reminded of the importance of knowing their sickle cell genotype through screening, even if they have already started a family.
The Sickle Cell Clinic at Nyamagana District Hospital operates every Friday. In addition to providing medical care for patients living with SCD, the clinic offers awareness and education sessions to different groups of people accessing healthcare services at the facility. These efforts aim to promote early screening, improve understanding of sickle cell disease, and strengthen family and community support.
