Tanzania celebrated Nane Nane Farmers’ Day, marking the culmination of eight days of exhibitions in the Western Lake Zone, covering Mwanza, Geita, and Kagera regions. Throughout the exhibitions, the Tanzania Sicklecell Warriors Organization (TASIWA) actively raised awareness of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), reaching more than 8,000 people through group sessions, family discussions, and one-on-one engagement. The initiative provided an important opportunity to expand public understanding of SCD in a region significantly affected by the condition.

Through this campaign, TASIWA promoted awareness of available medical care and the importance of seeking appropriate healthcare services, encouraged genotype testing among young people, parents, and families to support informed reproductive decisions, and challenged stigma and discrimination against people living with SCD. We extend our sincere appreciation to Global Genes for supporting efforts to raise awareness and improve the lives of sickle cell warriors and their families.
