Tanzania Sickle Cell Warriors Organization (TASIWA) in collaboration with Baylor Tanzania and with funding from the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, continues to implement the “Securing Lives, Empowering Health” Project, which supports families with children aged 0–17 living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
Through this project, TASIWA aims to provide National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) coverage to more than 400 children living with SCD. To prepare for this initiative, TASIWA, in collaboration with Baylor Tanzania, organized a one-day training that brought together project beneficiaries and key stakeholders from the Mwanza Regional Offices of the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) and NHIF.
The training aimed to equip parents and caregivers with accurate information on the importance of health insurance and birth certificates for children living with sickle cell disease. The session was highly beneficial, enhancing parents’ and caregivers’ understanding of NHIF services, their benefits, and how they can help improve access to essential healthcare for children and their families.
