The initiative aims to equip families with practical entrepreneurial skills that enable them to establish income-generating activities, improve household financial stability, and better manage the costs associated with caring for children living with SCD.
Through hands-on training, participants learn how to produce various products that can serve as a foundation for small businesses. These practical skills provide opportunities for parents and caregivers to explore entrepreneurship, generate additional income, and strengthen their economic independence. The training has benefited more than 200 parents and caregivers from Ilemela and Nyamagana districts in Mwanza Region.
Through this initiative, TASIWA and Baylor Tanzania recognize that improving the quality of life of children living with sickle cell disease requires more than access to medical services. It also requires empowering families with the financial knowledge, practical skills, and economic opportunities needed to sustain their children's care.
Our commitment is to empower families economically, strengthen access to essential healthcare, and improve the quality of life of children living with sickle cell disease.
