KETAN SCD Project
The KETAN Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Project is funded by the Pierre Fabre Foundation and implemented in Geita Region covering Geita MC, Geita DC, and Mbongwe DC. The project focuses on prevention, early detection, and management of sickle cell disease through community and health system strengthening.
- Community SCD education and awareness
- Newborn screening for SCD
- Training CHWs and healthcare workers
- Support to families affected by SCD
The project targets screening 20,000 children and supporting 300 children to access health insurance, improving access to care and health outcomes.

Securing Health, Improving Lives
This project is funded by the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation and implemented by Tanzania Sickle Cell Warriors Organization (TSCWO) in collaboration with Baylor Foundation Tanzania in Mwanza Region (Ilemela and Nyamagana Districts).
- Health insurance for 400 children with SCD
- Economic empowerment for 200 families
- Seed capital for income-generating activities
- Training 36 community health workers on SCD
The project strengthens economic resilience of families, enabling sustainable access to healthcare and improving early detection and continuity of care for people living with sickle cell disease.
